Got a BIG (over 1/3") splinter under the nail of my right ndex finger this afternoon at about 5 pm.
Just got it out now.
Scotch and my dremel tool are my friends.
BUt not like you...you all are much better than that...well, maybe not the scotch, but I digress!
Sooninsh I'l post a real update with what's going on n my life, but not quite yet.
Things are good...and looking even better! |

Been a while...nothing new here.
Still unemployed, but picking up work from the company that let me go (at a nice rate no less).
We are however, going shooting at A PLace to Shoot with a few people on Sunday the 28th if anyone wants to coma along.

| State of the Update |

So...it's been a while!
Project status...
No real major work on the Batmobile lately...put on roof and windshield...did some wiring...bought supplies for front end and fins, but haven't been able to work on it for a few weeks now.
I finally managed to get the Fire Sword done though...it rocks! Took a cheapo sword and drilled/cut out parts of the blade and attached some about 2' of triple layered 3" kevlar wick to the back of the blade.
BIG FIRE!!! Good FOOMP! I'm quite happy with it...good thing since I wore through about 8-10 dremel bits and 3 drill bits to get it done...aparently the steel wasn't as cheap as I paid for!
Work is, well, work...nothing to exciting there, occasionally a pain in th eass, but to be expected.
Everything else is swimming along.
Had a great time in Vegas for a wedding 2 weeks ago and spent some time at the Ranger training with good people last weekend...apparently I'm working this weekend, so no big fun for me...oh well.
I have to finish off the batmobile very soon so I can pack up the trailer and start Burning man Prep, since we leave in less than a month, and we'll be out there for at least 12 days.
That's all I have for now...maybe I'll try doing this more often! |

Double amputee is cleared to qualify for Olympics if he can!
And from the looks of his times, he's close enough to pull it off if he trains hard.
As forme, since I'm actually updating, things are pretty damn good.
The job deosn't suck so much since they've given a fat raise and full control over my department...it still does occasionally, but hey, it's a job!
Been busy with that and actually socializing and prepping for more events and social activities!
Working on a few projects...the Barmobile will soon take prority there.
I'm totally making a Batmobile for Burning MAn tihs year. I put a deposit on a GoKart/UTV last week and I go down next week to pick it up, since I didn't have my trailer last week.
I'm basing it on this vehicle in Black and adding the fins in the back, about 5 feet of front end, EL wire outlines of the frame...and of course a flamethrower.
I think I confused the sales guy when I told him I was going to strip it down, do some additions to the frame and put a flamethrower on it... |

So...working on a project (new fire sword) and need access to a drill press for an hour or so.
Blade should be in today... First chance I have to work on it will be Sunday afternoon. Anybody out there in SoCal LJ Land have workshop/ drill press I could use on Sunday? |

1. if you could do anything you wanted, and make a living doing it.....what, exactly, would you be doing?? (feel free to make up something that doesnt exist, as long as its what you would want to do *nods*)
Really, I'd like to be independantly wealthy so I don't have to "do" anything. I could pursue building things and learning metalwork for myo wn projects as well as travel and go places. I'd like to be able to leave at the drop of a hat to go rebulid a comminity after a flood/fire/earthquake/tornado and not worry that my obligations won't be met.
I enjoy being useful...I suppose I'd like to make a living doing that, but on my own terms, not someone else's.
2. garden gnomes...harbingers of evil??? if not, on what do you base your (obviously flawed) opinion?
ooohhh...tough question...
See, there are differnt kinds of gnomes...the garden gnome variety are mostly benign (I hope, since I'm currenly gnome sitting quite a few of them!)
I suspect the one that's smoking a toad in my bathroom is up to no good , but I don't really think he's a harbinger of evil.
Feisty and tricksy yes, Harbinger of Evil, no.
Harbingers of Evil is a title I usually reserve for arachnids and politicians. |

I've been in Hawaii the past week...I thought about lying, but really, I didn't miss any of you.
Ok...maybe alittle, but I got over it.
I flew a motorglider, swam with Sharks, ate good food and spent some good quality time with twistedcat.
It was a good week.
Did I miss anything important?
other than national ask a question month...I guess ask away, but I ain't screening shit! |

Long day yesterday...got to meet Gore Vidal and listen to him go off for about 30 minute...mostly related to the environment.
Long day today...big lighting - not as big as Friday's event, but long enough.
Long day tomorrow...full of sleep and eating breakfast at some point. Unfortunately I probably have to put pants on to go procure said breakfast, since I'm out of eggs, milk and bacon. I could do without 1 or even maybe 2 of these, but not all 3.
After breakfast, I,m guessing my day will be split by reading and TV with some lounging thrown in for a change of rhythm. |

So Westridge is now on fire...I live in westridge.
There are some really expensive houses and a golf course between me and the fire, but it's less than 1/2 mile away.
I'ts not moving towards me...it's pretty much going paralell to where I am, but it was an interesting few minutes while I checked to see where that new big cloud of smoke was coming from.
Still here, still not on fire...packing up a few things just in case. |

Ok...so I'm still here and unburned...but it's pretty damn smoky.
Got a call this morning from my brother that Placerita Canyon (where my parents live--except they're in Ecuador at the moment!) was going to be evacuated due to the oil fields catching on fire. Luckily it was handled by the time I actually got the message, so all was well there.
I watched the huge wall of smoke moving with the high winds and make things darkand pretty miserable outside...we went from clear and sunny (although really windy) to dim and brown in a matter of minutes.
I'm across the valley from all of the fires...it's just nasty and smoky.

I've been gone for the last 2 weeks at Burning Man.
I had surgery for kidney stones 4 days before I left...it was not pleasant.
It has, however fixed the problem for now, but I have to go back in the very near future to have a stent removed, which I a not looking forward to at all.
That's it for me...anything interesting happen while I was out? |

Luckily I don't have appendicitis...whew...what I do have is a nasty kidney infection.
They put me on 500mg of Cipro twice a day and want to follow up later, since I may or may not have a really big kidney stone...but supposedly I should feel beter within 48 hours.
Which is good, because I have a lot of events coming up...including camping this weekend with the BRC Rangers and a couple sets of extremely well paying events in the next few weeks. Really, surgery seemed like a really bad idea, and luckily it's not needed!

For those that actually want to know whats going on in my life...
I feel horrible...no I didn't do anything wrong! Life in general is going swimmingly...I have a handle on my bills and money due to my salary negoiations, I have a wonderful woman (even if she des hate ants) and I have 2 wonderful kitties. In comes the bad...
I have had issues with my belly for the past week and general uncomfortableness with abit of achy.
Last night I had a fever over 102...and still do this morning.
I'm going to the doctor now...wish me luck!
I'll update when I have more of an idea whats going on. |
